Nightshade AI

Nightshade AI is a data poisoning tool developed by researchers at the University of Chicago that allows artists and creators to add invisible perturbations to their artwork images that corrupt the training data of AI models attempting to scrape and learn from protected artwork without permission. When AI systems train on Nightshade-poisoned images, the perturbations cause the models to learn distorted concept associations, degrading model quality. Nightshade is designed as a defensive tool that gives creators a technical mechanism to protect their work from unauthorized AI training.
